Tension & Trauma Release Exercises
Stress and trauma are expressions of our brain/body system when we are stuck and don’t have access to the release mechanism. As a species we have largely lost the ability to activate discharge after an event or a long-term stress. Tension & Trauma Release Exercises (or TRE®) is a simple yet innovative series of exercises that assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension, and trauma. Created by Dr. David Berceli, PhD, TRE safely activates a natural reflex mechanism of shaking or vibrating that releases muscular tension and calms the nervous system. When this muscular shaking/vibrating mechanism is activated in a safe and controlled environment, the body is encouraged to return back to a state of balance. Through the release of tension we can build more resiliency in our nervous system and experience more joy in life.
